Installing Fonts & Other Noteworthy Observations
An important note for all type users...when buying Astigmatic Fonts, you receive both Truetype and Postscript Type 1 w/ Bitmaps - determine which format you need, and install only that version, as you should never install both True type and PostScript versions of the same font. If you are uncertain which to install, chances are Truetype is what you want to install.
Installing Fonts for the Mac
All Mac fonts at Astigmatic have been "Stuffed" with Stuffit and then BinHex encoded. To expand the file, drag it onto the Stuffit Expander icon. If you don't have Stuffit Expander you need to get a copy of it HERE.
Installing Fonts for the Mac - Mac OS X and up
Double-click the OS X hard drive icon. Open the Library folder. Open the Fonts folder. Drag the fonts into the Fonts folder.
Installing Fonts for the Mac - Mac OS 9 and earlier
Quit any open applications. Open either PostScript or True type folder. Select contents of opened folder. Drag contents to your unopened system folder. A window will come up asking you if you want them installed. Click 'OK'. Restart your Mac and you are good to go.
Installing Fonts for Windows/PC - Windows 3.1 and Windows 95
All Windows fonts at Astigmatic have been "zipped" with WinZIP. The download packs can be opened using WinZIP, or other programs such as CuteZIP, and WInRAR. The font files need to be uncompressed by one of these programs before you can use them.
You may either drop the font files directly into your Windows Fonts Directory, or you may follow the Copy Procedure listed below.
Now launch Windows.
(WIN3.1) Execute "Fonts Control Panel" by double-clicking on the icon in the Windows Program Manager's "main" group.
(WIN95) Execute "Fonts Control Panel" by double-clicking on the icon in the "Settings:Control Panels" group.
(WIN3.1/WIN95) Choose the "Add" option.
Browse and Select the temp. directory holding the new fonts.
A list of the fonts will be displayed. You can manually select the fonts you like, or you can use the "Select All" button.
Make sure the "Copy Fonts to Windows Directory" check-box is checked. This will copy the fonts from the temp. directory to your Windows directory. Click on the "Ok" button.
Now your fonts are ready for use in all compatible Windows Programs.
Installation on Windows 2000 may vary but the process should be VERY similar.
